Travel Purpose: business

Positive: My brother and I (not biologically related) needed to travel to Bogen, Germany for medical reasons. We needed two houses close together and this duplex worked very well for us. We stayed for a month and a half. The location was close to stores for easy shopping needs, and also close to medical facilities. The houses were in good condition and provided our basic needs (kitchen needs, laundry, etc.). The view from the back porch/balcony was peaceful, and it was a nice neighborhood area. (Very clean and quite.) There was also a very nice walking trail nearby which offered healthy daily walks in a nice outdoor environment. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We needed to order various medical supplies throughout our stay (vitamins, equipment, etc.). We had several issues with fulfilling online orders through Amazon and E-Bay due to being in a foreign country, and the owners provided valuable help so that we could receive the necessary items. They also helped us to return a couple of packages that did not work correctly. The houses were nicely kept, with nice dishes, nice chandeliers. Again, the owners seemed like very nice people. They were fluent in English which was very helpful, and they seemed happy to help serve our needs as guests in their rental homes. Overall, it was a nice experience, and we would rent from this owner again if the need arose.

Negative: We booked the duplex in order to have a quiet, private atmosphere for my brother to heal well post-surgery. We were surprised when the owners and their parents came in and out of the yard throughout the day, and to later learn that the owner had scheduled a gardening tour during our stay, which involved crowds of people coming and going, and a concession stand being placed in our driveway. It was a little uncomfortable to have a crowd of people staring at you whenever you come or go from your house. However, we had a friendly conversation with the owners and they heard our request for privacy. The owners were very nice and willing to work with us, and we came up with a solution that worked for everyone, which made the rest of the stay very pleasant. Renters may want to communicate those things with the owner prior to booking, if privacy is a concern. Because there are always some differences between cultures. Cleaning; there were not many cleaning supplies and the backside of the sofa was covered in human hair from a previous renter when I arrived. There was also some lost clothing found from a previous renter. So, maybe just a little deeper cleaning of the house prior to the next renter entering, or some additional cleaning tools on sight. (Broom, vacuum, etc.)

Summary: We enjoyed the nice location, friendliness of the owners, and the convenience the duplex option.
